Corey Finck, Master Artisan

Corey Finck was born in New Jersey and spent most of his life in the Northeast. He was raised on a large property tending to gardens and building new ones. Graduating from high school in Easton Pennsylvania, he then attended Temple University in Philadelphia where he studied Landscape Architecture. Finck operated his own landscaping business for two years but found himself drawn to the stone arts. Wanting to perfect his skills, he worked under multiple masons, mastering various types of stonework.

“The more time I spend with stone, the greater my appreciation is for it. It is one of the oldest trades, some of the oldest buildings still standing, are made of stone. Using local stone, projects can be the most sustainable, long lasting, and rewarding forms of construction. As I progress, I see so many possibilities for utilizing stone, anywhere from a simple walkway to an amazing outdoor kitchen.”

In the last year, Corey has studied with Buddy Rhodes, a globally know artisan of concrete countertops. He has spent much time perfecting his skills in this area. In December 2008, Corey began creating a fully sustainable outdoor custom stone hot tub made completely of natural materials and heated by natural fire. Now called the “Luv Tub”, photos and concept will be available in January 2009. Also in January 2009, Corey will embark on another skills enhancing adventure by attending a natural housing work camp in India.
